A William Dunaway is mentioned as a grandson in the will of Samuel Dunaway, Sr. in 1817 Spartanburg County SC Will Book A:112. It is not possible to say for sure based on the will, but it appears that his father's name may have been John. I am descended from Samuel, Sr. thru his son, Samuel, Jr. They are 3rd and 4th g grandfathers. Samuel, Sr's wife was named Mary.
